Landon Donovan Takes Manhattan: Part Three

Stop three on LD’s tour of Manhattan brought the USMNT icon to venerable NYC soccer bar Nevada Smith’s. Judging by the hero’s welcome he received you would have thought that he’d walked in carrying a freshly-won Jules Rimet trophy. Red Bull New York’s most hardcore supporters, the Empire Supporters Club, where in the room and showered him with several choice cuts from the ESC/North Jersey Brigade song book…and all of them where aimed squarely at England (“You know they ran away from Dunkirk in a fishing boat“). After this it was back to Niketown, then back downtown to Nevada’s again for the Group of Death gig. Thank God I wore my sneakers today instead of church shoes.
