All Star 2010: Officiating Controversy Rocks Celebrity Match

BY SHAWN FRANCIS

It has yet to receive much press but yesterday’s 2010 MLS All Star Celebrity game was marred by an 11th hour officiating controversy as scheduled referees Cory Ashe and Danny Cruz of the Houston Dynamo where replaced just before kickoff with three unknown officials. As the duo had already planned to issue cards to teammate Mike Chabala, the assistant on the White team, some have surmised that their exclusion from the match was the result of bribery. I spoke with Ashe & Cruz in front of the official’s table to get their reaction to the situation.

  1. This whole situation smells bad. How could the MLS or even FIFA allow for something like this happen? What is this serie a?
